Time to lose the baby weight

Here is a picture of me... when I was just 8 weeks pregnant (before I gained any weight). I'll just admit it, I gained 70 pounds while little M was growing inside of me. I know it's hard not to compare to friends, but one of my best friends just had her little girl and she only gained 20 when she was pregnant! She is already (just 2 weeks later) back in her normal pants, not a stretch mark in sight! My other best friend gained 40, and was back to her great and fit body in just 2 months. Here I am, on M's 5 month birthday. I have lost 35 pounds. I lost that in the first 2 weeks. Since then, I have been at the same weight! I go walking every day that the weather permits (crazy UT weather lately, lots of storms). I have been somewhat watching what I eat.
For those of you that know me, you know that I lost 30 pounds on weight watchers in 2009. I think it looks like I am headed down that road again. I can't continue to look in the mirror and see this other person that is looking back at me. I still look pregnant! When M was 2 months old, I actually got asked by a stranger if I was expecting. I can't keep going out in public with people thinking that I am still pregnant! Something needs to change. I need to get motivated!
What worked for all of you that have lost weight? (Suggestions need to be vegetarian friendly)
I think my goal will be to lose the extra 35 pounds by M's first birthday. Do you think I can do it?

Don't be too hard on yourself. Just like every baby is different, so is every mom and their body. I still have ten pounds of baby weight and I don't think it is going to budge anytime soon because I am breastfeeding ( I hear those last ten pounds stay while breastfeeding). But what I am more concerned about is my muscle tone, which was completely lost so I am trying to focus on that and not the pounds. Good luck on losing the weight! And if you don't loose it all by M's first birthday, hopefully you will at least feel confident and happy with your body by then.

I'm with Mestills...it's about the muscle tone/how you feel in your clothing.

I gained 35 lbs. with J and have about 5 to go (granted, that's baby weight. I'd like to lose an additional 15 lbs. so I'm 20 away from goal). My husband, God bless him, reminds me a lot about the number vs. how I feel about how I look. I'm also vegetarian and breast feeding.

Other than finding motivation to work out, I'm curious what has worked for others!

I feel your pain. While I only gained 25 lbs with my son, I lost some of the weight and ended up gaining some back. Now I have a lovely "kangaroo pouch" and some purpley stretch marks that don't want to go away.

My secret weapon right now is a stationary bike. I'm riding 20 minutes a day.. we'll see how this goes. :)

Oh goodness. I gained about 60 pounds with my 5mo daughter. I lost about 35 of that and still look more pregnant than when I was a couple of months along. I don't plan on losing all of the weight, since I had been super stressed and hardly ate the months before I conceived, but I would like to get back into a decent pair of jeans. ;) I need to start exercising...once this heat cools down. Lol. But I'm not overly worried about it. I'd like to look a little better, but I'm also enjoying my new curves. I just need to find a new wardrobe!

I just got back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and my daughter is 6.5 months. It just took time and I think breastfeeding helped, too. Good luck Momma!

It took me about a year with my first. My youngest is 2 1/2 and I am about 5 pounds heavier than I was before getting pregnant with my first. The big thing with me is the loss of muscle tone around my stomach from two c-sections. I have tried to the stomach roll and it just wants to stay :) New follower from the good friends just click hop, have a great evening! You can find me at

Awwww... I can totally relate girlie. This is such a sensitive topic too. Thank you for opening your heart out for us to see.
It takes A LOT of discipline mostly for me. Watching what I eat. & just sticking to it. I have to be strict to myself.
I think summer is the best time for me to stay focused tho. Because there is so much pressure already just on being able to wear a swimming suit. And also there aren't too many holidays around to ruin the chances of eating healthy. ;)
I wish you lots of luck on your weight loss mission!! You can do it girlie!
Keep us updated.

aw don't be so hard on yourself! I only gained 35 lbs with Abi, and she is over 6 months old and I only lost 19 lbs of that. (also in the first 2 weeks like you) That doesn't sound bad but it kind of is because I have another 20 to lose after all of the baby weight. I think if you set a goal of by her fist birthday, you will be happy with that! It took me til Isabelle was 2 for me to lose all of her weight and a little more. I hate the people who lose all of their weight right away because the reality is most don't.

I was feeling the same way with my first pregnancy and the weight came off within a year only to get preggers again. The second time around I just went with the flow and the weight came off within a few months. I think all the added stress about losing the weight actually kept it on in my case!

Your picture is so pretty! I'm sure you can get there! You asked for suggestions, so here's mine! I actually use hypnosis to help me lose weight. Sounds crazy ... I know! But it works. It has totally changed the way I look at food. I now crave brocolli and spinach instead of cookies and cakes! I write about it on my blog. Check it out -->> http://www.MommyMindSpa.com.
Good luck!
