My Journey to Cloth Diapering

I started cloth diapering just over a month ago, and I am officially obsessed! I spend any free moment I can grab entering cloth diaper giveaways, reading cloth diaper reviews, connecting with other cloth diapering moms, shopping for more diapers for my stash online, searching for deals, and now sharing all of that info with all of you on my new cloth diaper centered blog!
A friend had told me about cloth diapering while I was still pregnant. She even wrote an entire blog post about all of the benefits and aimed it right at me, she even mentioned my name in the post! It sparked my interest to save money and help the environment, but (because I hadn't tried it) I was still scared of poop. I had a get together with friends while pregnant called a "Beer and Diapers Party". Everyone that came to have a few beers with my husband also brought a pack of diapers. It is kind of a man baby shower. We ended up with tons of boxes of disposables. We used those while our LO was in newborn diapers and went through a box of size one as well. Then, I was at another friend's house for a play date about 3 months in and she was cloth diapering as well. I asked if I could watch her do it and if she could show me a few things. After she showed me flushable liners and her sprayer, and just how easy they went on.... I was sold. I went straight home and let the researching begin! I was FASCINATED to say the least.
Here we are just a little over a month later. I have 8 different brands, I have hook and loop, snaps, hybrids, prefolds, covers, pockets, AIOs, and fitteds. I use the sprayer daily, but haven't really seen the need for the flushable liners unless I need to use a diaper rash cream. I find it relaxing to do the diaper laundry and stuff the pockets on my pocket diapers. I am now a raving fan of Rockin Green as well. I plan to use cloth until she is potty trained and will again with my next (if there is one).
I am still yet to win a giveaway and I swear I have entered hundreds, but I am still hoping to check my email one day and see that I won! And, since I just love to see people win, I am going to host cloth diaper and baby related giveaways on my blog as well! Don't miss it! We already have 7 sponsors lined up for a big grand opening giveaway (I just started this blog last week)! Details will be posted soon!
So for you other CDers, tell me... what made you want to start cloth diapering and what is your favorite type of diaper?

Well you deserve a big mention for me switching to cloth! :) I'm excited to see you Wed! I hope I'm not late, it will depend on Morgan's nap that day. That time is like RIGHT when she usually naps.

Hey, thanks for following me. I am now following you. I am a cloth diapering Momma. :) We stared when she was 2 weeks old (now she's 5 months). I am loving experimenting with all different types.
How did you get all the give-aways lined up? I have contacted a few companies and I haven't heard back from them.

Lindsay, My LO is 5 months too! Her 5 month birthday is tomorrow. :) The giveaways I have lined up for the grand opening giveaway are through personal connections. I used to work for a craft store corporate office here in Utah in their marketing department. Through this, I met many talented and crafty people who are WAHMs and/or have their own businesses or etsy sites. Only 1 is CD so far. The rest are baby related or gifts for mom. Be sure to come back and check it out.

Thanks for following and I love cloth diapering. I posted not to long ago about our whole experience over the 2 years with my son. We are doing great and I have to say that I won the Duo Diaper giveaway on Our Growing Garden and that is my favorite diaper. I'm thinking about buying more even though we are getting close to potty training. My thinking is that some boys aren't potty trained until they are almost four so it would be worth it...right?

Kari, I am the same way, I rationalize every diaper purchase that I don't REALLY need. My stash started with 2 kinds, 14 diapers. It is now out of control. lol. I hope I win some soon too! That is so cool that you won!!! Check back here often for links to giveaways, and soon, I will be hosting a grand opening (this is a new blog) giveaway of my own that I am really excited about. As for buying that diaper, I say, if you REALLY want it, do it. :) It's easy to justify purchases for the baby.

Hi, new follower here and LOVER of all things cloth diaper!

We, too, have never had a diaper rash but we use "Angel Baby Bottom Balm" preventatively. It's doesn't stain his diapers, it smells wonderful, is natural and organic. We love!

I love how excited you got about cloth diapering. I have been doing it since Butterball was a month old but only using prefolds. Just today I ordered some pockets to see if I can make a transition to full time. Looking forward to reading your blogs and maybe winning a giveaway! I think we will both need help with our new obsessions :)

I don't have a baby so I can't give any advice, but I plan on doing it for many reasons when I do have kids :)
